GOD’S VISION FOR THE FAMILY 2
(week 50/13)
OLUBI JOHNSON
In our last article, we saw that God’s vision and purpose for the family is for husband and wife to help one another ‘eat’ of the ‘tree of life’ and use the wisdom, love and power obtained from the life of God to produce godly seed or children, who will in turn do the same: producing seed after their kind and ULTIMATELY fill the earth with godly seed causing God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven (Lk. 11.2).
How then do husband and wife help one another to ‘eat’ of the ‘tree of life’?
By helping one another to have time for the Word of God and prayer.
Praying with and for one another and their children to guard and protect the ‘Garden’ of their home from Satanic entry and attack, like Adam and Eve should have done in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 2:15 AMP: And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it.
How do you ‘eat’ of the ‘tree of life’?
Proverbs 3:13-18 NKJV: Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; (14) For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. (15) She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. (16) Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. (17) Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. (18) She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.
John 6:53-58 NKJV: Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. (54) Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (55) For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. (56) He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. (57) As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. (58) This is the bread, which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
John 6:63 NKJV: It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
1 John 1:7-10 NKJV: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
2 Peter 1:2-8 NKJV: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, (3) as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, (4) by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (5) But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, (6) to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, (7) to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. (8) For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So we ‘eat’ of the ‘tree of life’ by daily prayer, Bible reading, confession, meditation and practice for ourselves, spouses and children to guard and protect the ‘garden’ of our homes and produce godly seed that will enforce the Kingdom of God on the earth causing His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven!
It is instructive to note that you need the life of God and prayer in the Spirit on a regular basis (daily (Lk 9.23); weekly (Is. 58.13)) to:
1. Enlighten your understanding (Eph. 4.18, Rom. 8.26-28) to choose the right spouse
2. Cause Christ to be formed in you (Gal. 4.19), your spouse and children.
This is how you can fulfill God’s vision for your home and family.
