SEEING AND DOING WHAT GOD IS DOING
(week 06/16)

John 5:19-20 KJV: Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. (20) For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
Here the Lord Jesus tells us that He only did what God showed Him to do: like here (Jn.5.1-9) healing ONLY one man among a multitude of sick people.
How was the Lord Jesus ‘seeing’ what God was doing?
Was He having visions ALL the time? No, because if He was, He would not have to pray ALL night to choose the 12 Apostles (Lk.6.12-16).
He was ‘seeing’ what God was doing in His thoughts: we see this in
John 8:38 KJV: I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
John 8:44 KJV: Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Here, the Lord tells us that in the same way the devil shows the unregenerate man what he wants them to do; God shows Him what He wants Him to do: from the air, through thoughts and feelings as shown in
Ephesians 2:2-3 NKJV: in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, (3) among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Now, it is instructive to note that IT IS ONLY WHAT GOD SHOWS US BY HIS SPIRIT THAT HE BACKS WITH HIS POWER as exemplified in Jn.5.1-9; 9.1-7.
So, for us to ‘see’ what God is doing, we need our minds to be saturated with His Word and the air around us and our bodies to be filled with the power of His Spirit; so our thoughts and the desires of our emotions and bodies will be DOMINATED by the power of the Holy Spirit.
John 5:37-39 NKJV: And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. (38) But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. (39) You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
Here the scripture tells us that we can ‘see’ and ‘hear’ God through the scriptures: the Holy Spirit will use the word of God abiding in our hearts to direct us to ‘see’ and to ‘hear’ what God is doing!
This is further confirmed and clarified in
John 14:26 NKJV: But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 16:13-14 NKJV: However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (14) He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
John 17:17 NKJV: Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
So, God the Holy Spirit will guide us into ALL the truth HIDDEN in the God’s written Word.
This is done as we pray in tongues each day as we read and study the Bible:
1Corinthians 14:2 AMP: For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].
1Corinthians 2:7 NKJV: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages FOR OUR GLORY,
So this wisdom of God that we speak in tongues, is used by the Holy Spirit to reveal to us His truth HIDDEN in the written Word and its ultimate purpose is to cause the glory of God to be made manifest in and through us!
