Understanding the Spirit Without Measure 2
(week 51/08)
Olubi Johnson
Firstly, we wish all our readers a wonderful Xmas and a healthy, prosperous and destiny fulfilling New Year!
In our last article, we saw that the Lord Jesus was entrusted with the Spirit without measure and so performed spectacular miracles on a consistent basis.
Recall that when we get born-again and filled with the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues, we are entrusted with a measure of the Spirit that enables us to speak in tongues, cast out devils, heal the sick (Mark 16.17-18) in a limited sporadic degree.
Ephesians 4:7 ESV But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. The Spirit without measure is a measure of the power of God that is very large compared to the measure we received with the new birth and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
For instance a measure of a billion (109=10 x10x10x10x10x10x10x10x10) is very large compared with a measure of 10; so a measure of billion relative to 10 can be described as ‘without measure’.
It is this very large measure of the power of the Holy Spirit, relative to the measure received at the new birth that is called the Spirit without measure: it is this Spirit without measure that was released to the Lord Jesus when He had grown into spiritual maturity:
Luke 2:52 ESV And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favour with God and man.
Luke 3:21-23 ESV Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, (22) and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” (23) Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli.
John 3:34 ESV For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.
Ephesians 4:11-13 ESV And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, (12) to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, (13) until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
It is this relatively infinitely large measure of the power of the Spirit that God wants to release upon the church in this hour.
However, for Him to do so, we must have the necessary spiritual understanding, wisdom and most importantly development of the character of the love of God to generate, release and be entrusted with this Spirit without measure.
Colossians 1:9-12 ESV And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, (10) so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. (11) May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, (12) giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
We generate the Spirit without measure by individual united praying in the Spirit.
Recall that collective united praying in the Spirit generates the power of God that is used by God for His sovereignty (Ephesians 3.20; 6.18); however, it is individual united praying in the Spirit that releases the ‘Spirit without measure’ through the generating individual saint.
How can an individual be praying united in the Spirit with others who are not physically present? When you are operating under an apostolic covering (like the 12 apostles and 70 disciples (Luke 9.1; 10.1) were under Jesus’ covering) then God can gather another saint in the spirit to join you whenever you are praying in the Spirit: with supernatural tongues.
1 Corinthians 5:3-4 MKJV (3) For as being absent in body but present in spirit, I indeed have judged already as though I were present concerning him who worked out this thing; (4) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, with my spirit; also, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Now, that saint joined to you can be joined to another saint in the spirit by virtue of the same apostolic covering. Again, this second saint can be joined to third saint by the same covering. Again, this third saint can be joined to a fourth saint by the same covering. (See our power point slide show illustration on ‘Understanding the Spirit without measure’)
So added to the ‘generating’ saint praying you have a 3-fold spiritual cord or chain joined to him in spirit as he prays in the Spirit:
Matthew 18:20 MKJV For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 MKJV And if one overthrows him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Now, for every saint joined to you the measure of the power of God you are releasing is amplified by a factor of 10:
Joshua 23:10 MKJV One man of you shall chase a thousand. For Jehovah your God is He who fights for you, as He has promised you.
Deuteronomy 32:30 MKJV How shall one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them and Jehovah had shut them up?
So for a 3-fold chain, the power the ‘generating’ saint is releasing is being multiplied by a factor of 10x10x10=1000=103 (the size of a clan) fulfilling the scripture in:
Isaiah 60:22 AMP The least one shall become a thousand [a clan], and the small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its [appointed] time.
When the ‘generating’ saint is a young man/prince, his spiritual capacity can have 2 saints joined to him at each level of the chain so the power of God channeled through him as he prays is amplified by a factor of (10×10)x(10×10)x(10×10)=106=1 million (the size of a small nation).
When the ‘generating’ saint is a Father/King, his spiritual capacity can have 3 saints joined to him at each level of the chain so the power of God channeled through him as he prays is amplified by a factor of (10x10x10)x(10x10x10)x(10x10x10)=109=1 billion (‘without measure’ relative to 10).
This is the spiritual equivalent (Romans 1.20) of a natural c that releases tremendous power in a nuclear bomb or reactor.
Please note that these amplification factors are the very minimum being illustrative of the fact that saints being joined together in the chain are at the servant/little child level of spiritual development. As the church grows spiritually and more saints mature and pray more frequently these amplification factors will increase tremendously causing an exponential increase the power of God being released through ‘generating’ saints fulfilling what Jesus said in John 14.12: that the church will do the works He did and greater.
So to generate the Spirit without measure, we need ‘generating’ saints who pray frequently in the Spirit under an apostolic covering maintaining the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4.3) by frequent washing of feet: using the confession of sins, the cleansing of the blood, asking for life for the saints and praying in tongues to create and maintain spiritual prayer chains that are generating and releasing very large measures of the power of God relative to what we have individually, so, causing the Spirit without measure to be manifested in the church in this hour!
