Possessing Your Vessel 3
(week 41, 2007)
Olubi Johnson
In our last article we saw that it is vital in this 3rd. day to possess your vessel because of the abounding iniquity in the air, that will stir up any remnant of the sin nature in your soul and body and so force your love to gradually wax cold.
So to possess your vessel you have to use the force of spiritual arms to flush out the sin nature in the soul and body and also occupy the air around you with the nature and power of God.
We do this by using the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, which will free or liberate us from the force of the law of sin and death working from the air, through the sin nature in the soul and body:
Romans 7:23-8:4(NIV): 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
Matthew 11:12(NIV): 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
1John 4:4(NIV): 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. NIV
We activate or enforce the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, by using our spiritual arms or weapons: the blood of Jesus, the spoken Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.
So we:
1.Clean with the blood by confessing our sins (1 John 1.7-2.2).
2. Load with the Word by speaking God’s Word to receive His life (2 Peter 1.4, John 20.31).
3. Fire by the spirit by praying in tongues and with groaning or travail (Isaiah 66.8, Romans 8.26, Galatians 4.19).
It is instructive to note that it is the praying in tongues and travail that releases the power of the Holy Spirit to flush or clean or force out the sin nature in the soul and in the body.
In fact it is travailing prayer that gets us born-again, driving or forcing out the sin nature from our spirits:
Isaiah 66:8(KJV): For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
It is the same kind of prayer that will drive or force out the sin nature from the soul and body causing the Christ nature to be formed in our souls and bodies:
Galatians 4:19(KJV): 19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
Causing us to possess our vessels!
