Trumpets, Tabernacles and Jubilee
(week 38/04)
Olubi Johnson
The ceremonial feasts of Israel speak symbolically and prophetically of our present spiritual experiences in Christ.
There were 3 major feasts in Israel:
1. Passover (Unleavened Bread)
2. Pentecost (Harvest)
3. Tabernacles (Ingathering)
Exodus 23:14-16 NKJV: Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year: 15 You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty); 16 and the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field.
Passover typifies our born-again experience (1 Cor. 5.7).
Pentecost typifies our experience of the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues (Ac. 2.1-4).
Tabernacles typify our experience of perfecting the fruit of love in our lives bring us to the measure of the stature of fullness Christ individually first (1Jn. 2.5, Jn. 14.12, Lu. 6. 40) and then collectively:
Deuteronomy 16:13 NKJV: You shall observe the Feast of Tabernacles seven days, when you have gathered from your threshing floor and from your winepress.
Lev 23:39 NKJV: Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD for seven days;
Notice, the feast of Tabernacles was celebrated when the fruit of the land had been gathered in at the end of the year. This speaks of the perfection: the development to maturity, of the fruit of the spirit: love, in our lives causing us to grow into the perfection and fullness of Christ.
1 John 2:5 NKJV: But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him.
1 John 4:12-13 KJV: No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
Ephesians 4:15, 13 NKJV: but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head–Christ– 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
It is this perfection: development to maturity, of the love of God and the fullness of Christ, which will radiate from us as light and glory that will now bring in the harvest of souls in the nations of the world:
Isaiah 60:1-5 NIV: Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. 4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm. 5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.
Hence, the feast of Tabernacles is also called the feast of ingathering (Ex. 34.22).
Now the feast of Tabernacles has three parts to it:
1. Blowing of Trumpets
2. Day of Atonement
3. Feast of Tabernacles
The blowing of trumpets is symbolic of the prophetic voice in the Church (Is. 58.1, Rev. 1.10).
The Day of Atonement typifies the removal and cleansing of the sin nature from our souls and bodies by washing of the water of the Word, through the power of the Holy Spirit released through fasting and prayer (Eph. 5.26, 2 Cor. 7.1, Heb.10.22).
This is why the Day of Atonement includes afflicting our souls which speaks of fasting:
Lev 23:26-27 NKJV: 26 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 27 “Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls
Psalms 69:10 KJV: When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
The feast of Tabernacles typifies the manifestation of the glory and power of God after the fruit of the spirit has been perfected: developed to maturity.
It is instructive to observe that you cannot experience Pentecost without first experiencing Passover and you cannot experience Tabernacles without first experiencing Pentecost.
Furthermore, you cannot experience Day of Atonement without hearing and obeying the prophetic voice and the teaching of trumpets; and you cannot experience the glory and power of Tabernacles without the experience of the inner cleansing and purification of the Day of Atonement.
Now the Church has experienced Passover and Pentecost but we are yet to experience Tabernacles in its fullness: we have experienced Trumpets and Day of Atonement in limited degree.
We are now in the year and the season of the fulfilment of the fullness of Tabernacles.
The fulfilment of the fullness of Tabernacles is imminent: hence this message.
In our message next week, we will see how Tabernacles, Trumpets and Jubilee will be fulfilled at the same time in this season.
