THE CHRISTIAN ABRAHAMIC INHERITANCE 3
(week 30/10)
OLUBI JOHNSON
In our last article, we looked at the first part of our inheritance: possessing the gates of our enemies. This week we will look more closely at blessing all the nations of the earth.
Practically this means we will break, rule and disciple all nations: every tribe, tongue and kindred. Just like Moses broke Egypt (Ex. 7-15); Daniel broke Babylon (Dan. 2-6); Esther, Mordecai (Est. 3-10) and Ezra (Ezr. 1-7) ruled and discipled Persia.
Psalms 2:8-9 MKJV: Ask of Me, and I shall give the nations for Your inheritance; and the uttermost parts of the earth for Your possession. (9) You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Traditional Christian thinking puts off the fulfilment of this promise to the millennial reign of Christ; however a closer look at scripture reveals that in fact it is the fulfilment of this promise that will close this age and usher in the millennial reign of Christ.
Matthew 24:14 MKJV: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come.
Matthew 28:18-20 NIV: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.“
Also in the millennial reign there will be no need to break the nations since Satan would be bound for the thousand years and so the promise to break the nations and rule them with a rod of iron is given to the overcomer in this dispensation before the millennial reign.
Revelation 20:1-3 MKJV: And I saw an angel come down from Heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. (2) And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. (3) And he cast him into the abyss and shut him up and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years should be fulfilled. And after that he must be loosed a little time.
Revelation 2:26-27 MKJV: (26) And he who overcomes and keeps My works to the end, to him I will give power over the nations. (27) And he will rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of a potter they will be broken to pieces, even as I received from My Father.
Psalms 110:2 MKJV: Jehovah shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion; rule in the midst of Your enemies.
Notice again the rod of strength or ‘of iron’ is to be used to rule in the midst of our enemies: there will be no enemies in the millennial reign as Satan would be imprisoned during the thousand years of Christ’s millennial reign.
So our inheritance as the spiritual seed of Abraham is to experience the perfection and fullness of Christ and use the consequent power of the Spirit without measure to break, rule and disciple the nations to close this age and then usher in the millennial reign of Christ.
How then do we get this wonderful inheritance?
Through the diligent application of faith and patience to experience the perfection and fullness of Christ which is found in the ‘Holiest of all‘ within the veil after the ‘Holy Place’.
To strongly motivate us not to give up using our faith and patience until we experience the manifestation of the promised inheritance, God confirmed His promise with an oath:
Hebrews 6:11-14 KJV: And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: (12) That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (13) For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, (14) Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
It is instructive to note that this oath was added to the promise after the birth of Isaac and not before: so it was added NOT for the confirmation of the birth of Isaac (Isaac had already been born without an oath added to God’s promise) and natural Israel but for the confirmation of the birth of the Lord Jesus and His spiritual seed that would inherit these promises of possessing the gates of their enemies and bless all nations to close this age.
This was done since Abraham in a figure (Heb. 11.19) had given His son Isaac as a sacrifice to God (so keeping His blood covenant with God), God now (also keeping His blood covenant with Abraham) confirmed with an oath His promise to give His Son: the Lord Jesus as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity and to cause Jesus’ spiritual seed to inherit these promises in the end time to close this age.
Hebrews 6:17-20 MKJV: In this way desiring to declare more fully to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, God interposed by an oath, (18) so that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us, (19) which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil, (20) where the Forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
So as we, with faith and patience, diligently seek to live ‘within the veil’ in the ‘Most Holy Place’ we will inherit the Christian Abrahamic inheritance of possessing the gates of our enemies, bless the nations of the earth and close this age!
