Following Elijah 2
(week 17/03)
Olubi Johnson
In our article last week we saw that there is a present day prophetic Elijah ministry that has been sent to prepare the hearts of God’s people in the fear of God for the outpouring of the Spirit without measure: the manifestation of the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ in the Church.
This ministry is similar to the ministry of John the Baptist that was the Elijah ministry of that time sent to prepare God’s people for the ministry of Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 11:10-15(KJV): For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear let him hear.
Furthermore, just like it was in the time of Jesus, this prophetic Elijah ministry has also been rejected by most of the Church, except for a small remnant, because they emphasize the fear of God and character change rather than material and physical blessings alone.
Matthew 17:12-13(KJV): But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
As of now this prophetic Elijah ministry is not doing great outward physical miracles (John. 10. 41). However, it is about to be “translated to heaven” (2 Kings. 2. 1) from which position it will do the works Jesus did and even greater works (John 14. 12).
Those who follow the Elijah ministry and “see” this transformation or translation to “heaven” will experience the “double portion” (2 Kings. 2. 9, 10) anointing (a part of the anointing of the fullness of Christ) and so they too will do great signs and wonders in this end time (Isaiah. 8.18).
The question now is how to recognize and follow this prophetic Elijah ministry.
You recognize the prophetic Elijah ministry by the fruit of the spirit in their lives evidenced by their ability to rightly divide the Word of God, which comes from the abundance of their hearts.
Luke 6:44-45(KJV): For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
2 Timothy 2:15(KJV): Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Furthermore, you will see the fruit of humility and lowliness in their lives, which gives them access to the wisdom of God (Proverbs. 11.2). The evidence of this wisdom can be seen by the way they rightly divide the word of God in prophetic preaching and teaching.
Consequently they will not be title and money seekers nor men pleasers, like the scribes and Pharisees were (Matthew. 23. 1-12).
You follow the Elijah ministry by
1. Having an attitude of reverence and love toward them (1 Thessalonias.5.12, 13).
2. Obeying the instructions of the Word of God they preach and teach (Hebrews. 13. 7, 17).
3. Copying or imitating their godly conduct (Philippians. 4.9).
In our next article we will see what it means to follow Elijah from Gilgal to beyond Jordan and so receive the double portion.
