Fulfilling Your Destiny
(week 11/06)
Olubi Johnson
Every human being has a prophetic destiny hidden in the scriptures, which God wants us to fulfill:
Revelation 22:19 NKJV: and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things, which are written in this book.
Here, the scripture reveals that every person has a part in the book of life, the holy city and things written in the Word of God (not just the book of revelation).
This thought is further confirmed in:
Colossians 3:3 NKJV: Your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Remember that Christ is the living Word (Jn.1.1) whom the written Word reveals so your life is hidden in the written Word.
1 Corinthians 2:7 NKJV: No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
Every human being has a prophetic destiny hidden in God’s Word foreordained even before they were born.
God revealed this specifically about Jeremiah but it is true of all men otherwise God would be a respecter of persons, which He is not (Act. 10.34).
Jeremiah 1:4-5 NKJV: The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Also speaking of Christ the Bible says:
Psalms 40:7 NKJV: Then I said, “Here I am, I have come– it is written about me in the scroll.
This is also applies to all men since all men have a destiny in Christ: it is God’s will for all men to be saved (2 Pet.3.9).
So all men have a three part destiny:
1. A part in the book of life.
2. A part in the Holy city: like the 12 Apostles part was that their names were in the foundation of the walls of the city: Rev. 21.14.
3. A part in the things written in the Bible.
Now, being born-again and so retaining your name in the book of life is just the first part of your destiny: it is not your full destiny.
Your full destiny has 3 major things:
1. Being conformed to the image of Christ in this life time:
Romans 8:29 NKJV: For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
John 14:12 NKJV: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
1 John 4:17 NKJV: Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
2. Long physical life to have time to be satisfied that you have fulfilled your destiny on the earth. Now it is true many people do not live long but this is not because God did not want them to but because they did not walk in the wisdom of God sufficiently.
Psalms 91:16 NIV: With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Proverbs 3:1-2 NIV: My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
Prov 9:10-11 NIV: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11 For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
These scriptures show conclusively that it is God’s will for us to live long enough to be satisfied we have fulfilled his purpose for us: This is the prophetic destiny of all men except for the Lord Jesus Christ who lived a short life by choice and the design of the Father so he could die for our sins and be raised from the dead for our justification.
John 10:17-18 NKJV: Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
3. Good health and financial prosperity:
3 John 2 NKJV: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
Now why is it that most Christians do not fulfill these major parts of their destiny?
Most Christians just barely make it to heaven and suffer the loss of the major parts of their destiny:
1 Corinthians 3:10-15 NIV: For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
In our article next week, we will see that if you do not develop the love of God to perfection or maturity you are not guaranteed long life and so may not be able to fulfill the fullness of your destiny.
