THE LAWS OF PROSPERITY_2009
(week 09/09)
Olubi Johnson
In our article last week, we began to look at the power of God to get wealth.
We saw that it is the will of God for us to be wealthy: to meet our material needs; finance the evangelism and discipleship of the nations and bring God glory by controlling of the world economy through the release of great divine wisdom and ability.
This week we will be examining the laws of prosperity.
It is vital to understand that God in His eternal wisdom: an intrinsic divine attribute, decided what spiritual, moral, legal and physical laws would govern the operation of all creation before He created anything.
Proverbs 8:12, 22-31 ESV “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. (22) “The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. (23) Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. (24) When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. (25) Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth, (26) before he had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world. (27) When he established the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, (28) when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep, (29) when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, (30) then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, (31) rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.
In particular the plan of the redemption of man by the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus was in God’s mind before man was ever created:
Revelation 13:8 LITV And all those dwelling in the earth will worship it, those of whom the names had not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb having been slain from the foundation of the world.
So there are laws that govern everything and in particular material prosperity in the New Testament.
The laws of material prosperity are a specialized form of the basic law of the Kingdom: sowing seed and reaping a harvest.
Mark 4:26-29 ESV and he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. (27) He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. (28) The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. (29) But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
So the laws of financial prosperity in the Kingdom of God are:
1. Sowing financial seed by giving of tithes and offerings: promptly, completely, regularly and cheerfully.
Malachi 3:10-12 ESV bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (11) I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the LORD of hosts. (12) Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the LORD of hosts.
2 Corinthians 9:6-10 ESV (6) The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (7) Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (8) And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (9) As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” (10) He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
The tithe is 10% of your income or profit or any financial blessing that comes to you and it should be given as often as you get it: weekly, monthly etc.
Offerings are an addition to the tithe: anything you want to give. We recommend you should give an extra 5-10% of your income, profit or blessing as regularly as you get it. This can and should increase as God increases you financially. In fact the time can come when you can afford to give 90% of your income to God and charity, and the 10% remaining will still be more than enough to enable you enjoy all things richly (1 Tim. 6.17).
2. ‘Watering’: by praying and walking in the Spirit effectually and fervently:
We pray in the Spirit with travail for one hour (See our book ‘A Practical Guide to Prayer’ for details) at least once in a week (Gen. 1.3-2.2) to generate the power to get wealth.
We confess the Word on prosperity and pray in tongues immediately after the confession at least once in a week (Gen. 1.3-2.2) to release the power to get wealth.
We frequently (at least once every conscious hour (Mt. 24.42)) acknowledge the Lord for mercy unto eternal life (Jude 1.21) and pray in tongues frequently (1 Cor. 14.18) throughout the day to receive the wisdom and power to get wealth daily.
3. ‘Harvesting’ by practicing and investing in honest ventures:
Titus 3:14 AMP and let our own [people really] learn to apply themselves to good deeds (to honest labor and honorable employment), so that they may be able to meet necessary demands whenever the occasion may require and not be living idle and uncultivated and unfruitful lives.
God will not bless dishonest or immoral businesses:
Deuteronomy 23:18 AMP you shall not bring the hire of a harlot or the price of a dog (a sodomite) into the house of the Lord your God as payment of a vow, for both of these [the gift and the giver] are an abomination to the Lord your God.
As we keep these laws of prosperity God will in this 3rd day cause the perfect Zion church to be the richest financial institution (Dt. 28.10-13; 8.18) in the world having the resources to subdue the nations (Is.45.14, 60.1-5) and so create a conducive environment for evangelization and discipleship of all tribes, tongues and kindred by the gospel of the Kingdom (Mt. 24.14) so bringing a befitting, God-glorifying close to this age!
