Healing Your Faults

(week 25/09)

It is vital for us to understand that we all (until we experience cleansing perfection) have faults in our souls: mind, will and emotions.

Our spirits are saved: born-again by the injection of the life of God through the blood of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit (Jn. 3:3-6; 1 Jn. 5:5-6).

However, our souls are not yet saved: they are being saved progressively as we renew (Rom. 12:2) our minds with the Word by revelation knowledge; submit our wills to the will of God by humility (1 Pet. 5:5; Phil.2:8) and temper or control our emotions by the fruit of the spirit (Ga. 5.22).

James 1:21 ESV Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

This scripture reveals that our souls still have in them spiritual filthiness and rampant wickedness because they still have vestiges of the sin nature in them. Now, this sin nature is intrinsically proud, stubborn, rebellious and greedy because it comes from Satan whose original sin is pride which gave birth to stubbornness, rebellion and covetousness or greed:

Ezekiel 28:12-19 ESV “Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, thus says the Lord GOD: “You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. (13) You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. (14) You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked. (15) You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you. (16) In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (17) Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you. (18) By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who saw you. (19) All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.”

Isaiah 14:12-17 MKJV How you are fallen from the heavens, O shining star, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! (13) For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. (14) I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. (15) Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the Pit. (16) Those who see you shall stare and closely watch you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth to tremble; who shook kingdoms; (17) who made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed its cities; who did not open the house for his prisoners?

So, these basic faults of pride, stubbornness, rebellion and greed are in every human heart: soul and they are typified in Saul:

1 Samuel 15:17-31 MKJV And Samuel said, When you were little in your own sight, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? And Jehovah anointed you king over Israel. (18) And Jehovah sent you on the way and said, Go and completely destroy the sinners, Amalek, and fight against them until you destroy them. (19) Why then did you not obey the voice of Jehovah? Why did you fly on the spoil and do evil in the sight of Jehovah? (20) And Saul said to Samuel, Yes, I have obeyed the voice of Jehovah, and have gone the way which Jehovah sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have completely destroyed the Amalekites. (21) But the people took from the spoil, of the flocks and herd, the best of the things devoted to sacrifice to Jehovah your God in Gilgal. (22) And Samuel said, Does Jehovah delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice! To listen is better than the fat of rams! (23) For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idol-worship. Because you have rejected the Word of Jehovah, He has also rejected you from being king! (24) And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned. For I have disobeyed the command of Jehovah, and your word, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. (25) And now please pardon my sin and turn again with me so that I may worship Jehovah. (26) And Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with you, for you have rejected the Word of Jehovah, and Jehovah has rejected you from being king over Israel. (27) And Samuel turned around to go, and he laid hold on the skirt of his robe, and it tore. (28) And Samuel said to him, Jehovah has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you. (29) And also the Glory of Israel will not lie nor repent, for He is not a man that He should repent. (30) Then he said, I have sinned. Please honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel, and turn again with me. And I shall worship Jehovah your God. (31) And Samuel turned again after Saul, and Saul worshiped Jehovah.

We are to get healed of the faults of a ‘Saul’ heart and develop a ‘David’ heart so that we can fulfill our divine destinies:

Acts 13:22 ESV and when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’

The two key words that describe a ‘David’ heart are ‘will’ and ‘all’: a ‘David’ heart is willing to do all of the will of God.

In our article next week, we will see how to get healed of the faults of a ‘Saul’ heart.
