Mercy to be Faithful
(week 25/03)
Olubi Johnson
In last week’s article we saw that we have to take the Kingdom of God: the dominion of righteousness, peace and joy in our souls and bodies, by the force of spiritual arms, through daily spiritual warfare.
This week will see how to tap into the mercy of God to be faithful in spiritual warfare and taking the Kingdom.
Romans 9:16(KJV): So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
It is clear that God expects us to will (1 Corinthians. 14. 15) and to run (Hebrews. 12.1) however our willing and running must be complemented with the mercy of God for us to be consistently faithful and victorious.
We will and run by doing the following (as discussed in our articles on daily spiritual warfare and taking the Kingdom):
Having a daily attitude of meekness and love to all men, especially those in spiritual authority (1 Thessalonians. 5. 13).
Daily concentrated praying in the spirit continuously for about 1hour. (Set this as a goal and endeavour to attain and even go beyond it gradually).
Daily balanced Bible reading and watchful binding and confession and acting on the Word.
However, even after doing all these things, sometimes the temptation or difficult situation is not immediately overcome.
What then do you do to remain faithful to acting on God’s Word until the victory is obtained?
Acknowledge the Holy Spirit as a person, (asking for mercy to be faithful) Then build up, or edify yourself, on the faith you have just exercised in watchful binding and confession of Word. You do this by, what we may call, watchful praying in tongues, usually quietly, in the middle of the trial and temptation.
This watchful prayer in the spirit is what you do in the middle of daily physical activities as temptations and trials occur. It complements the concentrated prayer in the spirit that you do in your prayer closet. It is usually interrupted by the physical activities around you and so you do it in short, quiet bursts, acknowledging and thanking the person of the Holy Spirit, in between and during your normal physical activities as temptations and trials arise.
Jude 1:20-21(KJV): But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Ephesians 6:18(KJV): Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
When you do this the Holy Spirit will minister the mercy of God in the form of eternal life to your mind, body and circumstances to cause you to be faithful in that trial or temptation.
1 Corinthians 7:25(KJV): Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
