Spiritual Prosperity
(week 19/03)
Olubi Johnson
The purpose of the prophetic ministry is to make God’s people spiritually prosperous in the purposes of God.
The prophet is sent to teach and preach the “what” and the “why” of the times and seasons of God’s purposes for the Church as those times and seasons approach.
Amos 3:7(KJV): Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
When God’s people receive the prophetic ministry they prosper spiritually and are thus prepared to walk in God’s purposes for the Church in the appropriate time and season.
To be spiritually prosperous is to have the riches of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God:
Colossians 2:2-3 (NIV): My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
So, to be spiritually prosperous we need to “follow” the prophetic ministry (see our last 3 articles on following Elijah).
2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV): And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
The true prophetic ministry is not to lead the people of God. We are led by the Spirit of God (Romans. 8.14). However the prophetic ministry is to confirm, clarify and amplify what the Holy Spirit is already witnessing and saying to the hearts of His people.
It is this confirmation, clarification and amplification that cause us to prosper spiritually by giving us clearer and more revelation.
However, for you to appreciate and prosper from the prophetic ministry you also need to be hearing from God to some degree.
One reason why the Church has not received the prophetic ministry of the end-time Elijah is because so many want to be led by prophets giving them a “Word of the Lord” that panders to their emotional, physical and material desires. They do not want to learn to pray, read and study the Word for themselves. They are not ready to pay the price to hear from God themselves. All they want is a spectacular “prophetic Word” from a prophet that will tell them what they want to hear.
It is unfortunate that many of God’s people are being deceived by familiar spirits (1 Samuel. 28.7) and spirits of divination (Acts. 16.16) operating through corrupted prophetic anointings of those who, like Balaam and Saul, originally had a true prophetic call and anointing but have corrupted it through covetousness and rebellion.
It is only those who are praying and walking in the spirit to a certain minimum degree that can “follow Elijah” and “see” his translation to heaven and so prosper from the prophetic Elijah ministry.
So, I want to leave you with instructions for the certain minimum things you need to do as a daily habit, no matter how busy you are, to prosper spiritually by following the present day prophetic Elijah ministry.
1. Regular acknowledgement of the Holy Spirit as a person throughout the day (Proverbs.3: 6).
Holy Spirit please help me and put me in remembrance of your Word to be temperate and faithful in all I do so as to please you throughout today in Jesus Name.
2. Choose the fear of God.
I choose to fear God so, I humble myself by submitting to the will of God even when I don’t feel like it especially in prayer knowing the certainty His chastening if I disobey and the security of His mercy when I obey.
3. Prayer for wisdom and revelation.
Father, give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the present complete knowledge of you today in Jesus Name.
4. Confession to walk in love.
Meditation and confession of (1 Corinthians.13: 4-8) daily.
5. Receive Life and do Communion Prayer.
Ask God to give life (1 John.5: 16; John.5: 26; 10: 10) to you in a measure that is more than enough to build yourself up (Jude 20) as you pray in the spirit in communion prayer in tongues for a total of at least one hour daily (Matthew. 26. 40) in between and during physical activities as much as possible (1 Corinthians.14: 5-18).
