Acknowledgement and Thanksgiving
(week 52/02)
Olubi Johnson
In our article last week we shared about developing intimacy with the person of the Holy Spirit.
As we close this year 2002 I believe that developing intimacy with the Holy Spirit is the last ingredient that is necessary to usher us into the manifestation of the glory of God as it was manifested in the life of Christ.
So I want to emphasize two vital things that we mentioned in our last article that are necessary in developing intimacy with the Holy Spirit as a person.
These two things are:
- Acknowledging the Holy Spirit as a person in all you do many times during the course of your physical activities each day.
- Giving thanks to Him for His help in all you do.
Developing intimacy with any person requires regular acknowledgement, fellowship and appreciation of the person.
This is particularly true in a husband-wife relationship. To ignore or neglect and not regularly appreciate your spouse will sour your relationship.
This is also even truer of the Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 3:6 (KJV) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Furthermore, you need to appreciate Him by thanking Him regularly as a person.
Colossians 2:7 (KJV) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
You see, you don’t thank a presence or an influence, but you thank a person.
If the Holy Spirit is just an influence or presence or power to you in your thinking you will not thank Him.
But if you relate to Him as person and acknowledge Him several times each day, when you experience the manifestation of His help in your life and circumstances you will thanks Him as person and so develop intimacy with Him.
