Seeing God’s Works
(week 14/08)

John 5:19(KJV): Then Jesus answered and said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of Himself but what He sees the Father do. For whatever things He does, these also the Son does likewise.

Here, the Lord Jesus tells us that He does nothing from Himself but only what He sees the Father do.

Now, how did He see what the Father was doing? Did He have explicit visions all the time?

No.

He saw God in His mind and emotions just like the men see and do the lusts of Satan in their minds and emotions:

John 8:38(KJV): I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you, then, do what you have seen with your father.

John 8:44(KJV): You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Ephesians 2:2-3(KJV): in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience; (3) among whom we also had our way of life in times past, in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

For instance, in His thoughts Jesus knew the Father wanted Him to feed the 5,000 supernaturally using 5 loaves and 2 fishes and he expected Phillip to have also picked the same thought by the Spirit from the Father but Phillip had not:

John 6:5-13(KJV): Then Jesus lifted up His eyes and saw a great crowd come to Him. He said to Philip, Where shall we buy loaves so that these may eat? (6) And He said this to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. (7) Philip answered Him, Loaves for two hundred denarii are not enough for them, that every one may take a little. (8) One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, (9) There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are these among so many? (10) And Jesus said, Make the men recline. And there was much grass in the place. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number. (11) And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who had reclined; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. (12) And when they were filled, He said to His disciples, Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing is lost. (13) Therefore they gathered and filled twelve hand-baskets with fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over to those who had eaten.

It is the will of God that we develop our spiritual sensitivity, by allowing the life of God to fill and dominate our souls and bodies, so that God will be able to show us his works through our ordinary thoughts and emotions.

When we achieve this level of spiritual development like Jesus did:

1. Our normal discernment will produce as accurate results as the gift of the discernings of spirits.

2. Our normal faith will produce the results of the workings of miracles of the gift of special faith.

3. Our ordinary words will be God’s Words like Jesus’ words were and so be like prophecy.

The purpose of this will be to make men marvel and bring great glory to God!

John 5:20 (KJV): For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all the things that He Himself does. And He will show Him greater works than these, so that you may marvel.

John 14:12 (KJV): Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father.

Matthew 5:16 (KJV): Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.

Isaiah 40:5 (KJV): and the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken.

How then do we develop to this degree?

By daily confession, meditation, praying in tongues and practice of God’s Word particularly in the area of love according to 1 Corinthians 13.4-8. As we do this and this Word of love dominates our thoughts, feelings and actions, then we will ask what we will and it will be done unto us and so our thoughts, feelings, words and actions will be the same as God’s thoughts, feelings, words and actions:

John 15:7 (KJV): If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.
