Raising David’s Dynasty
(week 10/08)
By Olubi Johnson
Acts 15:13-17 (KJV): And after they were silent, James answered, saying, Men, brothers, listen to me. (14) Even as Simon has declared how God at the first visited the nations to take out of them a people for His name. (15) And the words of the Prophets agree to this; as it is written, (16) “After this I will return and will build again the tabernacle of David which has fallen down; and I will build again its ruins, and I will set it up, (17) so those men who are left might seek after the Lord, and all the nations on whom My name has been called, says the Lord, who does all these things.”
Here, James calls the coming of the Gentiles into the Church the fulfillment of Amos’ prophecy of the rebuilding of the tabernacle, or dynasty, of David.
Amos 9:11 (KJV): In that day I will raise up the booth of David that has fallen, and close up its breaks; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old; 12 so that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the nations on whom My name is called, says Jehovah who is doing this.
Isaiah 16:5 (KJV): And in mercy the throne shall be established; and he shall sit on it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging and seeking judgment, and speeding righteousness.
So these scriptures reveal that in the last days God is raising up spiritual Kings of the dynasty of David to cause all nations to seek after God.
How are we to identify a spiritual king?
A spiritual King speaks words that produce immediate dominion over physical things, causing immediate, spectacular manifestation of God’s Word:
Ecclesiastes 8:4 (KJV): because the word of a king is that which has power; and who may say to him, what are you doing?
A spiritual king scatters evil thoughts and power with his thoughts and so has the power and love of God totally dominating his mind and will:
Proverbs 20:8 (KJV): A king who sits in the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.
A spiritual king searches for and brings out the hidden truth of God’s Word to show forth the glory of God:
Proverbs 25:2 (KJV): The glory of God is to hide a thing; but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.
So a spiritual King in Christ Jesus has 3 distinguishing features:
- His words have power to bring immediately into physical spectacular manifestation the Word of God.
- His thoughts have power to scatter all evil giving him the total dominion of the love of God in his soul: mind, will and emotions.
- He Searches out through prayer (1 Corinthians 2.7-10) and the Word the hidden truth of God’s Word that show forth His glory.
As born again Christians we are all positional or potential kings in Christ (Rev. 1.6), however we need to grow spiritually (Ephesians 4.15) from being servants: spiritual children (Galatians 4.1, 1 John 2.13)), to becoming princes (Genesis 32.28): young men (1John 2.13) and then to becoming functional Kings: fathers (1 John 2.13) by speaking God’s Word, the truth in love and so perfect the love of God in our lives, closing any spiritual breaches that were in the life of David, like adultery.
Why then the dynasty of David?
The spiritual Kings being raised up are being raised in the dynasty of David because David in the Old Testament tasted of the powers of the New Testament by having the ark or the presence of God in an open tent, which in the Old Testament was normally hidden in the Holy of Holies.
So spiritual Kings in this 3rd. day will taste of powers of the millennial reign of Christ.
What does this mean practically?
It means that in their area or sphere of influence where they are physical present or are praying about: local church, city, nation or continent, they will effectively bind the influence of Satan in the air (Ephesians 2.2) so that God’s power will prevail in the air, enforcing the kingdom (Matthew 11.12) or dominion of God to be in physical manifestation over sin, sickness, poverty, ignorance and destruction; causing the will of God to be done (Luke 11.2) in the lives of men.
Recall that during the millennial reign of Christ Satan will be bound for a thousand years (Revelation 20.2) and confined in the bottomless pit so that the power of God will prevail in the air throughout the whole earth (Isaiah 11.6-9).
So kings in this dispensation will only taste of this and have it in manifestation wherever and whenever they bring their influence to bear through their presence, words and prayers in the earth.
It is crucial for these Kings to arise in the earth now to enforce the Kingdom of God by the force of spiritual arms in the church so that Christians will no longer do what seems right in their sight (Judges 3.25) but what is right in God’s sight as attested to and exemplified by these spiritual kings. This in turn will cause the body to grow into the perfection and fullness of Christ and so empower the church to disciple the nations: every tribe, tongue and kindred, fulfilling the condition for the close of this age:
Matthew 24:14 (KJV): And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come.
