Shortening the Days
(week 39/06)

Matthew 24:22-23 KJV: And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Here, the Lord Jesus tells us that in the end-times the days will be shortened.
What this means practically is that what would normally have been done in say 40 years will be done in say 28 years because God will speed the execution of His will upon the earth.
This same thought is repeated by the Holy Spirit through Paul in
Ephesians 5:16 KJV: Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Romans 9.28 KJV: For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.”
The Lord is cutting short the time because of abounding iniquity in the earth that is bringing great tribulation and problems on the earth.
If the Lord does not hasten His work in these last days, mankind will annihilate itself.
This is obvious right now because of the advent of nuclear and biological weapons and terrorism.
So then how do we as Christians cooperate with God to shorten the days?
2 Peter 3:12,14 KJV: Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Jude 20-21 KJV: But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Here, Peter tells us that by watching(or looking) and praying diligently, using the blood of Jesus to keep us without spot, the Word and the power of Holy Spirit as we pray in tongues frequently, we will hasten the coming of the Lord and so shorten the days.
In our next article, we will examine watching and praying always.
