Developing Great Faith 2
(week 24/06)
Olubi Johnson
In our article last week, we saw that to develop great faith we need to understand spiritual realities by understanding their corresponding physical realities and that it takes revelation knowledge to do this accurately.
So to get revelation and so have great faith we need to:
1. Have and maintain daily an attitude of love and humility:
Proverbs 11:2 NKJV: When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.
John 7:17 NKJV: If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
The will of God is love so if we are willing to walk in love and humility we will receive wisdom and revelation. In fact the degree and clarity of the revelation and wisdom we receive is proportional to the degree to which we are walking in humility and love.
2. Read the scripture as a daily habit
2 Timothy 3:15-17 NKJV: and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Isaiah 55:9-11 NKJV: “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Here, we are told that as rain brings water from the heavens, so God’s Word brings thoughts from heaven into our minds to causing our minds and so souls to prosper (3 Jn 2); so causing God’s purposes to be accomplished in our lives.
3. Pray for revelation, wisdom and understanding daily as a habit:
Ephesians 1:17 NIV: I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Colossians 1:9 NKJV: For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
4. Pray frequently and fervently in tongues:
1 Corinthians 14:2, 5, 18 NKJV: For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, 18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;
1 Corinthians 2:7 NKJV: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
When we speak in tongues, we speak the mysteries or the secrets of the wisdom of God which the Holy Spirit now reveals to us through the scripture by pasting the understanding of the picture or meaning of what we are saying in our minds.
The majority of the church today has little faith: faith only for material and physical blessings:
Matthew 6:29-32 NKJV: Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 “For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
However now, in this 3rd. day, God wants us to develop great faith: faith that will save our souls (1 Pet. 1.9) and bring us into the perfection and fulness of Christ (Eph. 4.13).
So, if you do these things, you will develop great faith and be a part of the great people that will form Joel’s army in these last days:
Joel 2:2 NKJV: A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them,
The great majority of these people, like the Centurion, as of now are not yet in the church (i.e. spiritual Israel), but will be brought into the Kingdom by the revival of the manifestation of the Sons of God to enjoy the feast of the wisdom of God.
Isaiah 25:6-7 NKJV: And in this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all people; a feast of choice pieces, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of well-refined wines on the lees. 7 And He will destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.
