Spiritual Sacrifices of the Melchizedec Priesthood 2
(week 16/06)
Olubi Johnson
Firstly, we want to wish all our readers a wonderful, resurrection life and revelation filled Easter celebration that will cause the blessings of God to come into your life in greater measure and make you fulfill more of your prophetic destiny!
In our article last week, we saw that as New Testament Christians we are priests after the order of Mel-chi-zedek and are to offer up spiritual sacrifices: sin offerings, burnt offerings, meal offerings and peace offerings.
We saw that the New Testament Melchizedek priesthood sin offering is the confession of the sins of ourselves and those under our sphere of influence. When we do this, the blood of Jesus cleanses our sins and those we include: immediate family, household, school, office or business colleagues or associates; in our prayers. However, the number of people must not exceed the capacity of our spirits (2 Cor. 10.14): because it is through our spirits the blood of Christ and life of God is released to sprinkle and cleanse the hearts of ourselves and others:
1 John 5:6 NKJV: This is He who came by water and blood–Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood.
2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV: Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-unless, of course, you fail the test?
So frequently throughout the day we say:
‘Father I confess our sins. In Jesus Name we have life’
And then we also we pray briefly but fervently in tongues to edify ourselves and so keep us and those we are praying for in the love of God:
Jude 20-23 NKJV: But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
This works for both Christians and sinners under your sphere of influence because your praying can save people from going to hell: “pulling them out of the fire” as mentioned above and shown in:
John 2:1-2 NIV: My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
So this confession of our sins and praying in tongues forms the New Testament Melchizedek priesthood sin offering which, like in the Old Testament tabernacle and temple, we offer frequently many times a day.
The peace offering in the New Testament is offered by:
1. Confessing your sins: ‘Father I confess our sins’
2. Drawing the life of God using the Name of Jesus: ‘In Jesus Name we have life’
3. Making a confession of faith based on God’s Word: this is what makes it a peace offering since we have peace with God being justified by faith:
Romans 5:1 NKJV: Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
4. Pray briefly but fervently in tongues.
Again, we are to offer peace offerings, like in the Old Testament tabernacle and Temple, frequently many times a day: see our article on learning obedience.
The meal offering is in Melchizedek priesthood is offered by:
1. Confessing your sins: ‘Father I confess our sins’
2. Drawing the life of God using the Name of Jesus: ‘In Jesus Name we have life’
3. Thanking, praising and worshiping God with words or a song both in the understanding and in tongues.
It is a meal offering because God ‘eats’ and ‘drinks’ our thanksgiving, praise and worship:
Psalms 50:13-14 NIV: Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High,
Hebrews 13:15 NKJV: Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
Song 4:11 NIV: Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue.
Again, we offer up meal offerings many times a day.
In our article next week, we will look examine the New Testament Melchizedek priesthood burnt offering; once again have a wonderful Easter!
